A motorboat carrying 14 Algerian illegal migrants struck a 17-year-old girl swimming off Sardinia, leaving her critically injured before continuing towards shore and trying to evade police. A teenage witness said those aboard saw what had happened, stopped briefly and then fled, while authorities later detained all 14 men and arrested the suspected helmsman.
