Strong Forint Drives Unexpected Drop in Hungarian Inflation
Hungary’s annual inflation rate unexpectedly slowed to 1.8 per cent in May, confounding analyst forecasts and strengthening expectations of an imminent interest rate cut by the National Bank of Hungary. Economists largely attributed the surprise decline to the strong forint and revised their inflation forecasts lower for the year.
