The National University of Public Service will host the Ludovika Festival between 7 and 9 May, bringing together scientific, public affairs and security policy discussions alongside concerts, outdoor cinema and family programmes. The three-day event will be held at the Ludovika Campus in Budapest and will be free to attend.
According to the organizers, the first two days will focus on the Ludovika Open University lectures, where experts will analyse current conflicts and global security challenges. Discussions will cover the state of the Russia–Ukraine war, broader geopolitical trends and peace efforts in an evolving world order.
Particular attention will be given to the intersection of technology and warfare, especially cybersecurity. Experts will present how modern forces are trained to respond to complex cyberattacks and the challenges posed by digital warfare.
The programme will also include a space-focused presentation titled ‘Among the Stars’, featuring Tibor Kapu and Gyula Cserényi, who will share insights into the latest developments in Hungary’s space initiatives.
Security policy sessions will also address contemporary issues in law enforcement, including terrorism and the less visible dimensions of modern conflict. Sustainability and the protection of critical infrastructure will be discussed as well, including a roundtable on water security challenges in Hungary.
The festival will further explore topics such as the future of education, the role of artificial intelligence in classrooms and the development of digital governance. Additional discussions will examine statecraft, global system transformations and Hungary’s cooperation with the Organization of Turkic States.
Participation in the academic lectures requires prior registration due to limited capacity.
Cultural programmes will also play a key role. On Thursday evening, the festival will introduce an outdoor lakeside cinema, followed by an afterparty at Club Heaven. On Friday, concerts will be held on the unique lakeside stage.
The closing day on Saturday will focus on traditions and family-friendly activities, including storytelling, folk dance events and live music performances.
Visitors will also be able to attend interactive exhibitions and demonstrations by law enforcement agencies and the military. Highlights include close combat displays by the Hungarian Defence Forces, ceremonial performances and search-and-rescue presentations.
The event will also feature the 100-day ceremony of officer cadets, marking the final phase before they take their military oath and begin active service.
Family activities throughout the day will include inflatable play areas, obstacle courses and outdoor games, while the Orczy Adventure Park will remain open to visitors.
