Starting this September, András Bíró-Nagy’s responsibilities at the Prime Minister of Hungary’s Office will be expanded to include managing European Union affairs. In addition to coordinating government policy, the State Secretary will strengthen Hungary’s relations with the EU and ensure the effective representation of Hungarian interests at the European level, the Hungarian news site Origo reports.
At the request of Prime Minister Péter Magyar, Bíró-Nagy will take over responsibility for coordinating EU affairs at the Prime Minister’s Office from September. He will retain his existing duties, continuing to serve as State Secretary for Policy while also assuming responsibility for European Union affairs.
According to the announcement, his expanded purview will include coordinating EU-related government policy, strengthening Hungary’s relations with the European Union, and representing Hungarian interests effectively at the European level.
Bíró-Nagy is a political scientist and international relations expert who holds a PhD in political science. He studied at Corvinus University of Budapest and the London School of Economics. European integration, Hungary’s EU membership, and domestic and European public policy have been central areas in his professional and academic work.
He previously worked as a political adviser in the cabinet of the European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion.
Bíró-Nagy has served as State Secretary for Policy at the Prime Minister’s Office since May. With his expanded responsibilities, he will now play a key role in coordinating EU affairs and representing Hungary at the European level as well.
