Husband and wife Christopher and DeYanna Ostroushko, along with their daughter Paige Ostroushko, were captured on camera attacking TPUSA reporter Savanah Hernandez at an anti-ICE protest in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The couple has gone on a ‘media tour’ seeking sympathy after the backlash they have received for their violent action. However, they have been charged in federal court since.

Turning Point USA reporter Savanah Hernandez was attacked by a group of far-left anti-ICE protestors in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on 11 April. The incident was captured on video and posted online, showing an angry mob slapping her in the face and shoving her to the ground.

Interestingly, it turned out that a whole family was part of the group of aggressors. Husband and wife Christopher and DeYanna Ostroushko, along with their daughter Paige Ostroushko, all took active parts in the attack against the right-wing reporter.

On 29 April, it was announced that a federal grand jury indicted all three of them on one count of assault each, while Christopher and Paige also got one additional count of interfering with a federally protected activity. The incident took place on federal property, and the prosecution will be taking place in federal jurisdiction.

Prior to their charging, the eventual defendants had gone on a bit of a ‘media tour’. Not to apologize to their victim for the most part, but for garnering sympathy for the negative reaction the public had to their violent assault.

For instance, the Ostroushko couple has appeared on the Pushing the Limit podcast, where they complained about being doxxed and their daughter facing potential expulsion from college. They described the days following the attack on Hernandez as ‘hell’.

Perhaps the boldest statement from Mr Ostroushko, however, was denying that he has ever been a violent person. ‘We are absolutely not violent people, in fact, we tend to shy away from it,’ he told the host, despite him being one camera shoving a female reporter to the concrete pavement.

The X user @Chicago1Ray shared a brief clip of a television interview the Ostroushkos did, where they shared similar sentiments.

TPUSA Targeted with Violence Again

Turning Point USA was famously co-founded by conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated while speaking on the Utah Valley University campus in Orem, Utah, in September 2025. Thus, there was an understandable extra vigour in the outrage by right-wingers when they learnt that the reporter attacked in Minneapolis is affiliated with the late Charlie Kirk’s organization.

Savanah Hernandez has been working for TPUSA as a contributor since 2022.

In the midst of these events, President Donald Trump has survived a third assassination attempt in a further act of far-left political violence in the US. On 25 April, a gunman named Cole Tomas Allen opened fire inside the Washington Hilton Hotel, where President Trump was set to speak as part of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Allen, a school teacher from Torrance, California, has since been arrested and charged with Attempted Assassination of the President of the United States.
