A number of people in education in the United States have been called out on X for posting messages seemingly condoning the assassination of President Donald Trump.

Last weekend, we saw the third major attempt on US President Donald Trump’s life during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner at the Washington Hilton in Washington, DC.

The suspect, who is being charged with Attempted Assassination of the President of the United States, is Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old school teacher from Torrance, California.

Disturbingly, a number of his fellow people working in education have posted their public support for the assassination of the President of the United States on their social media. The popular X account Libs of TikTok has shared just a couple of them.

One of them is Patrick Meyer, a social studies teacher at Kaukauna High School in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. He wrote on X: ‘I am not impressed with recent presidential assassins…[President Abraham Lincoln’s assassin, John Wilkes] Booth, [President James Garfield’s assassin, Charles] Guiteau, [President William McKinley’s assassin, Leon] Czolgosz, [President John F Kennedy’s assassin, Lee Harvey] Oswald must all be spinning in their graves! MAGAA (make Americans great assassins again)! Sad!’

According to a social media post by the local school district, Meyer has been put on administrative leave.

Libs of TikTok has also shared a video by Corinne Baum, a kindergarten teacher based in Cincinnati, Ohio. In it, she insinuates that she was disappointed to learn that the assassination attempt against President Trump had failed. According to the X post, she has been fired from her job.

Libs of TikTok on X (formerly Twitter): “BREAKING: Cincinnati kindergarten teacher Corinne Baum, has been FIRED following video where she complained that Trump wasn’t assassinatedAnother one bites the dust!pic.twitter.com/nnP5xrDLSK / X”

However, one of the users appears to have been misidentified by Libs of TikTok as a teacher. A post on the website for the Saugus Union School District in Santa Clarita, California states: ‘Comments have been stated on social media made by an Andrea Hovis/Andrea Hovis Burris regarding President Trumps’s [sic!] recent assassination attempt. Some individuals have attributed this person as a teacher at West Creek Academy in the Sugus Union School District. This individual is not nor ever has been a teacher or employee in the Saugus Union School District. We do not condone nor support statements of violence.’

The post referenced was by the user @andrea_hovis on X, and it said: ‘I’ll pray for better aim.’ It was posted just a few hours after the shooting at the Washington Hilton.

Meanwhile, a different X account by the handle @HistorianUSA1 shared the TikTok video of a woman wearing a blue wig, saying: ‘You’re telling me a paedophile almost got eliminated from Earth, and I’m supposed to feel anything other than disappointed?’, presumably referring to President Trump. In the comment section, the poster claims that the woman has been identified as a resident of Cincinnati, Ohio, who used to work as a teacher and is now employed in healthcare.
